Comparative analysis of methods to identify road sections with high accidents risk: a case study of E67 Estonia–Latvia–Lithuania corridor

E67 road is a strategically important part of North Sea – Baltic Core Network Corridor, connecting the three States with Finland, on one hand, and Eastern Poland, other. So-called Via Baltica corridor services more than 30 000 vehicles per day being major arteries for transit heavy good transport in region. Annually around 8 accidents casualties occur 500 fatalities year. Relatively high safety risk exposure requires efficient management infrastructure issues. The use either black spot (BSM) or network (NSM) combination these two approaches to treat dangerous sections network. In this article methodologies used countries spots identification were described. Quantitative analysis sections/spots identified by was performed whole reveal differences between methods used.
